What are Revit View Templates and Why should I use them?

View Templates allow you to save Revit’s view properties.   View templates can be applied to multiple views to ensure consistency from view to view, and to prevent unintentional changes.

View templates capture nearly all the settings you see in the properties dialog.  Options available will vary depending on the view type.   Here are the View properties saved for floor plans.

The most common approach to view templates is to create a one for each drawing type.  See sample list above.  View templates can be created in advance and stored in your Revit Template.
